Reilly Craft Pizza and Drink in downtown Tucson is about to reopen and served on the rooftop after being closed for more than a year.

The owners have received a $ 100,000 commitment from the Rio Nuevo board of directors to add additional outdoor seating in a space above the beer garden.

The pizzeria plans to open the existing 101 E. Pennington St. restaurant this summer. It has been closed since March 2020 due to the pandemic.

Co-owner Zach Fenton said the roof has about 2,000 square feet. The capacity depends on the decisions of the city.

He told the board that the supplement could generate approximately $ 700,000 in annual sales.

The former funeral home turned into an Italian restaurant in 2012 when downtown Tucson made its comeback.

Rio Nuevo’s board of directors has pledged the money, subject to the restaurant reopening.
