The closest thing to the law, he said, is a ban on anyone requiring a person to undergo a vaccine that is administered under “emergency clearance” from the Food and Drug Administration. But that’s not the case here, Rankin said, as the FDA has given the Pfizer vaccine full approval.

And, he said, the city is providing exemptions and shelter for medical conditions and sincere religious beliefs as needed.

The question that remains, however, is what will happen on September 29th if there is a clear, legally approved ban on vaccination mandates.

To this end, Rankin urges Brnovich to stand on the side of those who have already brought an action for the annulment of the law.

The lawsuit by educational groups and others argues that the Arizona Constitution limits all laws to a single subject. The same provision also states that all issues raised in the action must be included in the title.

In this case, the anti-vaccination rule is just one section in a 33-page measure entitled “Health; Household; Reconciliation”. The bill also includes wording related to developmental service providers, the medical marijuana fund, medical loss ratios for dental insurance, and the newborn screening program.

Lawyer Roopali Desai wants a judge to void the sections not mentioned in the title – in this case specifically on vaccines and vaccinations – as unlawful. A hearing is scheduled for September 13th.
