TUCSON – It’s the food, music, and camaraderie that make Tucson Meet Yourself a Tucson tradition.
Last year the pandemic forced providers to go virtual. But this year they’re back and so are the masses. “It’s booming. We’re busy, busy. We were probably sold out four hours earlier,” said saleswoman Jonella Rose. She has been working at the festival’s Pam’s Kitchen for a decade. Last year they took part in the virtual festival, but Rose said it wasn’t the same: “That, we’re getting out, the music, the food, that’s not there. Virtual is great, but to be in front of the people, to be with them talk. hearing their stories are not the same. “
Another vendor, Erich Saphir, said: “We were there when Tucson Meet Yourself was little and reached the TCC, and we’ve never done better than this year.”
While this is the 48th year of Tucson Meet Yourself, this year seemed special after the 2020 lockdown and restrictions. “Just like when you’re out after all that Covid stuff, it’s nice to see other people,” said participant Karyssa Haney.
