TUCSON, Ariz. (KGUN) – With only days to go until the big Thanksgiving festival, it’s time for shoppers.

“A friend comes to us and the rest is family. We have our dining table full, ”said buyer Shirley Swaffar.

“I’m almost done. This will be the last time,” said the buyer, Jack Lawless.

Some are gathering around the dining table for the first time since the pandemic, but preparation hasn’t been easy for everyone. Supply chain problems have resulted in an insane run on businesses in some states.

“The supply chain has really given everyone a run for their money over the past few years,” said Ashley Shick of Bashas’ Family Stores.

Schick predicted Bashas’ thoughts. Preparations for the holiday rush began over six months ago. On Monday in northwest Tucson, their shelves were filled with goods and their freezers were full of turkeys.

“We work with our suppliers every day. We make sure that we get our deliveries as we ordered them, as we need them. We also make sure that our businesses take care of each other, ”said Schick.

Bashas has noticed a lot of shopping this year. Last week was one of the busiest in 2021.

“Last year we had a lot of people celebrating with smaller gatherings. There was a lot of smaller shopping for turkey size. d normally be, “said Schick.
