I hear a lot of talk about Phoenix, Scottsdale, and Sedona, but I want to talk about the real unsung hero of Arizona: Tucson.

1.First of all … take a look at this random block. So quaint. So picturesque. It’s Friday and I’m in love.

2.The bar scene is awesome. For example: Drinks can be drunk from a bank at the Owls Club, a former funeral home that has become a bar for people who prefer gin with a ghost set (maybe).

Whispering mood + delicious cocktails + a piece of Halloween every evening = the perfect place. And that’s not up for debate.

4thThere’s the San Xavier del Bac Mission, an impressive church, and a national historic landmark dating from 1797. The ornate details inside are enhanced by the barren desert backdrop on the outside.

5.In the family-run La Estrella bakery, you can and should inhale pastries. This local business has been around since 1986 and is loved by the community for its fresh gingerbread ~ pigs ~ (El Cochito) and sweet bread (La Concha), and best of all, the spread including it costs less than $ 6.

9.The Mexican food here = excellent. The chorizo burrito and bacon taco in the Seis are delicious; Be sure to wash it down with a fresh agua fresca (watermelon cucumber was my favorite) * and * a homemade horchata. I say “and” because you have to devour both.

Horchata is a Mexican plant milk made from cinnamon, rice and vanilla that you would like to drink in a jug.

10.The afternoons can be spent strolling in and out of the institutions along Historic Fourth Avenue, including Antigone Books (oooo, we love a #smallbookshop) and Hut (a Tiki-inspired lounge that you can see by an Easter Island statue enter) belong.

You can also refuel after shopping on Fourth Avenue at BOCA Tacos y Tequila. And if the name wasn’t an indication of what he’s serving … It’s tacos! Delicious for just $ 3.50 a pop.
