CRESWELL, Sarah (Sally) Shufflebarger

Age 86, died on Sunday, November 21st, 2021 in Guaymas, Mexico with friends and family. Sally was born on June 27, 1935 and spent most of her life as an Arizona native. Growing up in Glendale, she came to Tucson to study at the University of Arizona. She married Howard Creswell on December 27, 1957 and began her professional career as a teacher at TUSD. In 1967 she joined the faculty of St. Michael and All Angels Parish Day School, where she was an excellent third grade teacher for many years. She then became the headmistress of the school and taught history in the 7th and 8th grades. She also directed the annual eighth-grade trips to Washington, DC, a tradition that many St. Michael’s students look forward to and will remember. During the summer months she found time for extensive trips with family and friends to Europe, Mexico and the USA. After retiring in 1994, she focused on her long-term membership in her gardening club and enjoyed her book clubs as well. She joined the Assistance League, which works for the benefit of the Tucson community, and has served as president for a term nationwide. On top of that, she was also a proud and vocal Wildcats fan. Sally had a great passion for both teaching and her students. During her career, she has touched the lives of generations of young people and their families. She will be remembered by everyone who knew her for her inspired leadership, creative teaching, caring for others, participating with her husband Howard in many programs to feed the hungry and make the lives of those around them better and brighter . All her life she faced many physical challenges courageously and without complaint. Her final years were spent enjoying her many friends and being surrounded by the family she loved so much. Your spirit will always be with us. She is survived by her husband Howard; Children, Juliet, Steven and John, their families and grandchildren. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael’s and All Angels Episcopal Church. Instead of flowers, consider donating to the St. Michael’s Scholarship Fund for low-income students. All are also invited to a Live Life Celebration at Julie and Tom O’Shell’s home on 6901 E. Potawatomi Drive at 12:00 PM
