Last October, the team held a trick-or-treating event at the Roadrunners headquarters.

Hoffman admits having reservations about the event, saying the commentary in society at the time politicized the trick or treatment.

“I was hoping we didn’t get the idea that we were trying to get people to come out and cause disease,” Hoffman said. “I was pushed by Adrian, but we didn’t know if we would see anyone.”

Hoffman’s fears were quickly allayed when fans and their children stood down the street before the event even started.

“They just wanted to hang out and we did it outside, with a gap and a distance,” said Hoffman. “We wanted the kids to see Dusty again instead of just driving by. We had a meeting when the transit took place and the response was great. “

In the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving last year, the team traded “El Lazo” pucks for non-perishable food. Fans nominated families in need of a Thanksgiving dinner, and the Roadrunners went to work to provide for them.

Season ticket holders who donated US $ 100 to the cause were given jerseys worn by the game in exchange.

In mid-December, the team held a “Santa Dusty Saturday” drive-thru event, at which toys and cuddly toys were collected, gift bags were distributed to children and a backdrop for family photos was set up at the gate.
